equal rights for unborn women

Equal Rights For Unborn Women

July 15, 2016
Joseph Goebbels, Nazi propaganda chief

Joseph Goebbels, Nazi propaganda chief

Life is cheap. Not so many years ago getting murdered in New Zealand was a big deal. The news media reported only one or two homicides a year. Today it’s almost daily and we hardly seem to notice. But when a child has been abused or killed, then our blood boils – especially if the parents or ‘care givers’ did it.

Sadly some people still believe the Nazi Holocaust of six million Jews never happened; the ugly truth is, it did. In New Zealand and around the world the genocide of our unborn children is also happening but on a much bigger scale. If you think the word genocide is too strong or somehow inappropriate, then consider this: half the people entering abortion clinics never come out alive. That means in New Zealand an average of 36 unborn children are murdered and discarded as trash every day (1).

According to Statistics New Zealand 13,155 abortions were performed here in 2015. According to the World Health Organisation every year there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions performed every year worldwide. At time of publishing this article (8 July 2016), there have been 21.3 million abortions performed so far this year internationally. Chillingly you can actually watch this death toll rise by the second online and in real time here.

Why are we on the on the one hand rightfully outraged at child abuse murders, yet not at killing in the womb? New Zealand author and journalist Ian Wishart suggests the answer lies entirely in conditioning. Much of the content of this article is sourced from the Child Abuse chapter of Ian’s book, Eve's Bite. (2)

You can only believe that abortion is irrelevant if you adhere to one or more of the following:

•  You believe the infant is not human
•  You believe the infant is not really alive
•  You believe there is nothing special about human life
•  You believe a woman’s right to choose whether she has a child trumps the infant’s right to live
•  You don’t feel you have a right to tell anyone else how to run their lives
•  You believe that an adult life is worth more than a fetus’
•  You believe only a wanted child should be brought into the world

“Because the embryo is at such an early stage of development, abortion is not murder”

Conception: A new individual receives 23 chromosomes from each parent and its own unique DNA. He or she weighs only 15 ten-millionth of a gram. Life begins.
Day 1: The first cell divides into two, the two into four, and so on.
18 days from conception: Heart begins to beat, with the baby’s own blood.
28 days: A baby has eyes, ears, and even a tongue! Muscles are developing along the future spine. Arms and legs are budding.
30 days: Child has grown 10,000 times to 6-7mm (1/4”) long. Brain has human proportions. Blood flows in veins.

Can’t trust me with a choice? Can’t trust me with a child.

Can’t trust me with a choice? Can’t trust me with a child.

“It’s not taking a life, it’s terminating a pregnancy”

World War II Nazi propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels may have liked how this statement works. Before and after the fact, the Germans used deceptive euphemisms to explain and justify deportations of Jews from their homes to ghettos or transit camps, and from the ghettos and camps to the gas chambers at Auschwitz and other killing centres. German officials stamped “evacuated,” a word with neutral connotations, on the passports of Jews deported from Germany and Austria to the “model” ghetto at Theresienstadt, near Prague, or to ghettos in the East. German bureaucrats characterised deportations from the ghettos as “resettlements,” though such “resettlement” usually ended in death. (3)  Pro-abortion groups and Libertarian followers often still refer to the unborn child as ”protoplasm” in a bid to dehumanise it.

The reproductive health care subterfuge

The phrase “reproductive health care” is a euphemism for abortion services. When a doctor stitches, mends, advises, heals and treats you for an illness or disease; this is health care. When a doctor injects you with poison, dismembers you while you're alive, crushes your skull and sucks you through a hose; this is homicide. Abortion is not healthcare!

The Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand (ALRANZ) targets pro-life doctors and nurses with its My Decision website.  Pro-life health practitioners and crisis pregnancy centres in New Zealand are the target of this website designed to intimidate those who choose not to refer for abortion or prescribe contraception.

The site black lists health practitioners and crisis pregnancy centres which they believe women should avoid.  The incomplete list includes the names of individuals or organisations, the region and town, and whether they are a doctor, nurse or other provider.

ALRANZ, was instrumental in the writing of the Greens abortion policy, which was unveiled in 2014. That policy aims to take abortion out of the Crimes Act making it more accessible. The policy also targets health professionals who may conscientiously object to ensure they refer patients on to a “neutral practitioner”.

“Before abortion legalisation thousands of women died from botched backstreet abortions”

The idea that illegal abortions were performed by "back-alley butchers" with rusty coat hangers is misleading. While president of Planned Parenthood in the US, Dr. Mary Calderone pointed out in a 1960 American Journal of Health article that Dr. Kinsey showed in 1958 that 84% to 87% of all illegal abortions were performed by licensed physicians in good standing. Dr. Calderone herself concluded that “90% of all illegal abortions are presently done by physicians”. (4)

Another stunning admission about the manufacturing of illegal abortion numbers comes from Dr. Bernard Nathanson, former director of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (now known as the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League - NARAL). In his classic 1979 book Aborting America, Dr. Nathanson wrote, “How many deaths were we talking about when abortion was illegal? In NARAL, we generally emphasised the frame of the individual case, not the mass statistics, but when we spoke of the latter it was always 5,000 to 10,000 deaths a year. I confess that I knew that the figures were totally false and I suppose that others did too if they stopped to think of it. But in the 'morality' of our revolution, it was a useful figure, widely accepted, so why go out of our way to correct it with honest statistics? The overriding concern was to get the laws eliminated, and anything within reason that had to be done was permissible.” (5)

“I’m protecting this child from being born into and experiencing an unhappy life”

Maybe so, but perhaps there is a good future ahead for him or her. Family Planning in New Zealand and Planned Parenthood in the U.S. are unlikely to recommend adoption. If asked for advice, they, the child’s father, most doctors, family and friends will see abortion as the only realistic solution to an ‘inconvenient situation’. Escaping the ‘situation’ has also become a priority for the (often irresponsible) father. Present circumstances can affect our judgement and while a quick fix decision may bring relief, it may also bring grief, guilt and long term depression.

“My body. My choice”

Aren’t you forgetting the body growing within your body, don’t they get a choice (about staying alive)? From the moment of conception, the embryo has its own unique DNA. A 7 week old fetus has its own clearly visible head, arms, hands, fingers legs, feet, toes, etc. 55 percent of abortions were performed in the ninth week of gestation or earlier, and 39% were performed between the 10th and 13th week in New Zealand in 2015. (6) If you’re confused about the difference between a mother's body and that of a fetus in her womb, please google images "abortion 9 weeks". Warning: dismembered human body parts may offend some viewers...

“It’s a woman’s right to choose”

Says who? Where do we get the “right” to “choose” an innocent person’s death? If a woman doesn’t like her boyfriend does that give her the right to choose to kill him? If she doesn’t like her 12 year old daughter demanding food, shelter, time and money from her everyday of her life, does she have the right to choose her death as well?

The truth is, that some of the strongest advocates of the “choice” option are women who, in former times, would have been assistants in Nazi death camps. “I’d as soon weep over my taken tonsils or my absent appendix as snivel over those [five] abortions. I had a choice, and I chose life – mine,” sneered British feminist and journalist, Julie Burchill in 2005. (7)

“We have no right to tell others how to live”

This is the argument from weakness. Logically, if this is true, then we have no right to intervene in the murder of a child by its parent on the street in front of you, and even less right to intervene in cases behind closed doors like the deaths of the Kahui twins. Logically, if this is true, then it also means we can pass virtually no laws, because that would require imposing society’s will on someone.

“Only a wanted child should be brought into the world”

Women who have abortions do so because they value life.

Women who have abortions do so because they value life.

This pre-supposes that the mother will be incapable of falling in love with her child – and most mothers do in fact love their kids regardless of whether they were “surprises” or not – and it frames the debate in terms of only the mother’s “wants”. What about the child’s aspirations? There are plenty of children born in developing nations who adapt happily despite the harsh hand in life they’ve been dealt. The pro-abortion argument presupposes that no child will ever find happiness, which clearly doesn’t stack up with the facts.

“Abortion is perfectly legal in this and most other countries”

Sadly that’s true. It’s what we want – what we voted for. Majority rules right? Wrong. I hold this particular law in contempt because it breaks this much higher law: Don’t Murder.

In the early 1970’s pro-abortion lobbyists, including Family Planning, succeeded in pushing a test case, Roe vs Wade, all the way through to the US Supreme Court, that would open the way for abortion on demand as a “right.” In a split ruling, the Court decided to take the liberal view, and the abortion floodgates in the US were opened. New Zealand and other countries followed soon after. The woman named as “Jane Roe” in this case, Norma McCorvey, has since testified that she was duped as a young teenager into becoming a test case for the feminist movement, and asked to lie to the court by saying her pregnancy resulted from rape (it didn’t), so as to make the case more emotional. “You read about me in history books, but now I am dedicated to spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death.”—Norma McCorvey (AKA Jane Roe).  “Jane Roe” of Roe vs Wade tells the truth and nothing but the truth here. (8)

“There are circumstances that justify abortion, rape for example”

Rape and abortion share this in common: They are both acts of violent assault against an innocent victim. Aborting a child conceived through rape simply extends this pattern of violence and victimhood. Why murder an innocent child for the father's sin?

“What if the baby is deformed?”

Australian born ethicist Peter Singer, now Professor of Bioethics at prestigious Princeton University in the US, argues that newborn babies should not be considered “human” until 30 days after birth, and that they can therefore be euthanised during that time. He also argues that disabled babies should simply be killed on the spot. Singer doesn’t offer any logical or scientific argument to support his beliefs, other than what academics call “functionalism’, which is that humanity is defined by what you can or cannot do. Singer therefore sees the world through his own eyes as a functioning adult, and regards the disabled and babies as lesser beings because they are not as fully functional. In this sense he is a reincarnation of the Nazi philosophers.

Singer is also nicknamed “the Godfather of the animal liberation movement” as a result of his 1970s book Animal Liberation. He argues (like Darwin) that man is just one of millions of species and holds no special place. It follows, he says, that we should value animal life more highly than human life: “Surely there will be some nonhuman animals whose lives, by any standards are more valuable than the lives of some humans.”

Singer and other Greens, conveniently overlook that according to Darwin’s theory it is the survival of the fittest. If mankind is the fittest and animals die, tough luck – on Darwin’s construction of the argument. Ascribing animals some kind of intrinsic worth higher than humans is getting dangerously close to animal worship.

The animal liberation group PETA, which looks to Singer for inspiration, illustrates the confusion and contradiction inherent in Green beliefs.

“There is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They’re all mammals,” claimed PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in a Washington Times interview. (9)

Then PETA’s Alex Pacheco has said: “We feel that animals have the same rights as a retarded human child”. (10)

Again, Peter Singer with: “There are some circumstances, for example, where the newborn baby is severely disabled...when killing the newborn baby is not at all wrong”. This is the same Peter Singer who justified bestiality in a book review for sex website Nerve.com on the grounds that the only moral issue was whether the animal enjoyed it!

“I have to wear a fake smile every single day because the girl who aborted her baby isn‘t allowed to be sad...”

Post abortion trauma

Professor David Fergusson, leads the world’s largest tracking study, following the lives of 1265 children born in Christchurch, New Zealand, from 1977 onward. In a January 2006 update on the study, published in the Journal of Child Psychiatry and Psychology, Fergusson revealed that women who have abortions are significantly (up to double the rate) more likely to suffer mental illness, depression and suicidal thoughts in the years following, than those who don’t.

“I remain pro-choice. I am not religious. I am an atheist and a rationalist,” Fergusson told Australia’s ABC network. “The findings did surprise me, but the results appear to be very robust because they persist accross a series of disorders and a series of ages...Abortion is a traumatic life event; that is, it involves loss, it involves grief, it involves difficulties. And the trauma may, in fact, predispose people to having mental illness.”

Fergusson’s groundbreaking study was rejected by a number of medical journals who didn’t like its conclusions. “We went to four journals, which is very unusual for us – we normally get accepted the first time.”

Even New Zealand’s Abortion Supervisory Committee, charged by the government with ensuring abortions are performed on the basis of the woman’s “mental health”, didn’t want to know about the study and its findings that abortion actually causes mental health problems.

The real misogynists

The ultimate form of hating women today is a culture that lies to them, saying their offspring aren't real humans, and violates their gift of motherhood with an act of homicide. How can we allow an industry to be called a woman’s movement when it inflicts such damage upon them?

If any of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her...

At this point let me clarify: I don’t judge any woman who has had an abortion. I don’t judge a woman’s partner, family, friends, doctor or counsellors who insist on or advise having an abortion. I don't even judge the abortionists or clinics responsible for performing and profiting from murder. But in so far as the universe is governed by various physical laws, I believe it is also governed by a set of moral laws which state (and our consciences  confirm) what is right and what is wrong behaviour. They confirm the existence of good and evil. These laws are not abstract, but specific, practical and beneficial. They were written over 3000 years ago, can be found in the Bible and are known as the Ten Commandments or the Law. (Exodus 20) Much of our modern legal, justice and penal systems are based around this Law.

Crime and Punishment

The Bible tells us only one person has ever completely obeyed all Ten Commandments throughout their life. Nobody else can claim this, no-one can say they’re without sin. If you’ve had an abortion or abortions and struggle with guilt, know this: your feelings are a natural result of your actions. You’ve broken God's Law. To feel okay about taking a life is to suppress or harden your conscience. It's sobering to realise that the Law's author is also our judge. Does He take pleasure in delivering justice? No. The Bible says that God is more willing to forgive us our crimes than to punish us as we deserve. But there is a cost...  there always is.

“You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”. (Psalm 139:13-16). “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” (Jeremiah, Chapter 1:5)

Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?
